 White Paper: Protocol Analysis in UMTS Networks
As of today, there are still very few UMTS networks offering commercial service.
However, since third-generation (3G) handset functionality is improving and a wider range of handsets is becoming available, the number of 3G UMTS subscribers is increasing.
By March 2003 there were more than 350,000 UMTS users and more than 6,000,000 cdma2000 users in Japan, and the rollout of UMTS throughout Europe is underway.
