CDMA Overview
This provides an introduction to Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) communications, covering a Radio Carrier Station (RCS) and a Fixed Subscriber Unit (FSU). This introduction to CDMA proceeds heuristically, we use very little mathematics in developing the theories, and do not assume a deep mathematical or engineering background. If you would like further information on the math and . . .

The ABCs of Spread Spectrum -- A Tutorial
Over the last eight or nine years a new commercial marketplace has been emerging. Called spread spectrum, this field covers the art of secure digital communications that is now being exploited for commercial and industrial purposes. In the next several years hardly anyone will escape being involved, in some way, with spread spectrum communications. Applications for commercial spread spectrum range from 'wireless' LAN's (computer to computer...

Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA)
For a mobile communication system, a key parameter is the system capacity. A number of methods to increase system capacity in a W-CDMA network are discussed. This tutorial presents results from different antenna pattern parameters and sectorization techniques for optimizing the maximum number of active subscribers.

CDMA vs TDMA
During this discussion I will use the generic term 'CDMA' to refer to the IS-95 standard. Technically speaking, CDMA is only a means to transmit bits of information, while IS-95 is a transmission protocol that employs CDMA. You may also hear the term 'TDMA' used to refer generically to the IS-136 standard. Once again, TDMA is only a method of transmitting bits, while IS-136 is a protocol that happens to employ TDMA.

The principles of Spread Spectrum communication
In Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems all users transmit in the same bandwidth simultaneously. Communication systems following this concept are ``spread spectrum systems''. In this transmission technique, the frequency spectrum of a data-signal is spread using a code uncorrelated with that signal. As a result the bandwidth occupancy is much higher then required. The codes used for spreading have low cross-correlation values and...

White Paper: CDMA Network Technologies: A Decade of Advances and Challenges
This paper will briefly describe the origins of CDMA technology and the emergence of 3G implementations such as cdma2000 1X and cdma2000 1x EV-DO. An overview of network topology is included, with a detailed explanation of the role of each element and interface in the network and of protocol testing to address the changing requirements of the network.
