Concurrent and Real-Time Programming in Ada
Ada is the only ISO-standard, object-oriented, concurrent, real-time programming language. It is intended for use in large, long-lived applications where reliability and efficiency are essential, particularly real-time and embedded systems. In this book, Alan Burns and Andy Wellings give a thorough, self-contained account of how the Ada tasking model can be used to construct a wide range of concurrent and real-time systems. This is the only...

Programming in Ada 2005 with CD
Programming in Ada 2005 is the definitive tutorial and reference for a ground-breaking new version of Ada (Ada 2005), a significant revision of the language of choice for applications where safety, security and reliability are paramount. The major changes from Ada 95 are: Ø A new OO model to incorporate Java-style multiple inheritance and more rigorous error analysis prior to execution; Ø Synchronized...

Extending Ada to Assist Multiprocessor Embedded Development
The Ada language supports high level techniques for inter-processor communication and also supports low level implementation of data address manipulation. The language however requires the software developers to manage the low-level manipulations. This paper proposes a technique to incorporate the high level concepts with low level implementation for multiprocessor communications.

Extending Ada's Real-Time Systems Annex with the POSIX Scheduling Services
In this paper we propose extending the scheduling model of the Ada 95 Real-Time Systems Annex with the services specified in the Real-Time POSIX standard. These services include a round robin within priorities scheduling policy, a sporadic server scheduling policy, and execution time clocks and timers.

Ada is commercially viable
In the Fall 2006 Military Embedded Systems article The COTS software market doesn’t run on DOD time, you wrote that 'One only has to look at defunct languages such as Forth or the barely commercially viable Ada environment to understand that the military has little or no clout with the COTS software industry.' We at AdaCore respectfully disagree with the statement that Ada is 'barely commercially viable.'

Merging legacy software into contemporary system design
As defense industry software developers transition from Ada to Java and upgrade their hardware, they must do so in a way that protects existing application software. Mixed language development tools that support real-time and safety-critical Java as well as stalwarts such as Ada and C provide a seamless upgrade path that enhances productivity while preserving legacy code.
