uClibc -- a C library for embedded systems
C library for developing embedded Linux systems.
It is much smaller then the GNU C Library, but nearly all applications supported by glibc also work perfectly with uClibc.
Porting applications from glibc to uClibc typically involves just recompiling the source code.
uClibc even supports shared libraries and threading.

BusyBox: The Swiss Army Knife of Embedded Linux
BusyBox combines tiny versions of many common UNIX utilities into a single small executable.
It provides replacements for most of the utilities you usually find in GNU fileutils, shellutils, etc. The utilities in BusyBox generally have fewer options than their full-featured GNU cousins; however, the options that are included provide the expected functionality and behave very much like their GNU counterparts.
BusyBox provides a fairly...

Linux Assembly Tutorial
This tutorial is an introduction to coding assembly in Linux.
There are two 'versions' to accommodate various people: The Step-by-Step Guide: This version explains everything in detail.
It assumes that you have done at least a little bit of DOS assembly, and that you have Linux on your computer (although you may not have used it much yet). Since not everyone may know how to use Linux, there are links to sections where I explain how to do...

Scratchbox
Home of the cross-compilation toolkit project.
Scratchbox is a cross-compilation toolkit designed to make embedded Linux application development easier.
It also provides a full set of tools to integrate and cross-compile an entire Linux distribution.
To find out what it can do, take a look at some of the documentation.
Especially Debian is supported, but Scratchbox has also been used to cross-compile Slackware for ARM.
