A Dense-wavelength-division-multiplexing Optical Network System
A dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system with 32 wavelengths and 10 Gbit/s/wavelength has been developed.
It provides a total transmission capacity of 320 Gbit/s. An OC-192 end-terminal with an ITU-T compliant-wavelength transmitter is directly connected to the DWDM system.

Application of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing in Metropolitan Transport Networks
This paper introduces some of the factors underlying the deployment of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) in metropolitan ring networks.
DWDM has been implemented previously in point-to-point trunk networks but advances in opto-electronics, enabling the production of the more diverse DWDM components at much lower cost, has now made the technology a viable option for increasing the transmission capacity in metropolitan networks.

DWDM Components Original study plus update
This market research report and update by IGI Consulting forecasts the market for optical components to be flat or decreasing for 2001 but will pick up its growth in 2002.
Even though most aspects of the market are showing little or no growth, photonics automation and integrated optics are still showing growth.
