The 10 Gigabit Ethernet or 10GbE or 10 GigE standard was first published in 2002 as IEEE Std 802.3ae-2002 and is the fastest of the Ethernet standards.
It defines a version of Ethernet with a nominal data rate of 10 Gbit/s, ten times as fast as Gigabit Ethernet.

Ethernet Technical Summary
Ethernet is the most widely used local area network (LAN) technology.
The original and most popular version of Ethernet supports a data transmission rate of 10 Mb/s. Newer versions of Ethernet called Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet support data rates of 100 Mb/s and 1 Gb/s (1000 Mb/s).

Gigabit Ethernet (GbE or 1 GigE) is a term describing various technologies for transmitting Ethernet frames at a rate of a gigabit per second, as defined by the IEEE 802.3-2005 standard.
Half-duplex gigabit links connected through hubs are allowed by the specification but in the marketplace full-duplex with switches is the norm.
