Differences between 680x0 family and ColdFire
Although the ColdFire architecture is closely related to the 680x0, there are many simplifications to the instruction set. Nearly all of the differences are omissions from the 680x0 instruction set and addressing modes. This means that (with a few important exceptions detailed below), a 680x0 instruction which is implemented in ColdFire behaves in exactly the same way under the two architectures.

Motorola 680x0 series performance guide
Once upon a time, I needed to develop a graphics library for an embedded project in 68K assembly. I remember how I couldn't find much hints on how to write fast 68000 code anywhere back then, so I decided to write down some tricks I learned from my mistakes to spare someone else from making them. Most of these are faster/smaller alternatives to 'trivial' implementations of common tasks discovered in 'Wait a minute. There is a better...

The Motorola 68060 Microprocessor
The Motorola 68060 is the fourth-generation microprocessor of the M68000 Family. User object code-compatible with previous family members, it delivers 3 to 3.5 times the performance of the previous generation processor in this family, the 68040. Performance features include a superscalar integer unit, a high-performance floating point unit, dual 8-Kbyte on-chip caches, a branch cache, and on-chip memory-management units. A...

Express Logic - RTOS, TCP/IP, USB Stack, File System, GUI

NetX® and NetX Duo are Express Logic's high-performance implementation of IPv4 and IPv6 TCP/IP protocol standards. Both are fully integrated with the ThreadX® RTOS (real-time operating system) and are available for all supported processors. NetX and NetX Duo have a unique Piconet™ architecture. Combined with a zero-copy API, it makes them a perfect fit for today's deeply embedded applications that require network connectivity.
